the best part of the web is that it's, well, a web! have fun checking out some of these cool sites i've compiled.
Internet Settings - Nintendo 3DS (remastered by BedrockSolid)resources
- edward clark's scientific search engine compilation
- youtube to mp3
- w3schools
- sfx library
- code sandbox: I use this for quick tests, it's a neat little tool
- clideo: online mp3 trimmer (great for quick trims!)
- ezgif: my go-to gif editor
- photopea: free online mimic of adobe photoshop
- zonelets: great resource if you want to start a blog/website and you're new to html/css
- gifcities: geocities gif archive
- WAVE: tool for checking website accessibility
- bloggif: make animated text with cool effects!
- catbox: an excellent file hosting service that supports multiple file types and up to 200mb uploads. A great alternative to imgur!
media
- megathread
- archive.org + book download guide (I have this archived elsewhere if this ever goes down, just e-mail me!)
- flash game archive
- marble blast web port
- Fin Fin on QEMU: an emulator for the software Fin Fin, fit to work on modern hardware! it runs through a windows 98 virtual machine, it's pretty cool
- unofficial homestuck collection: read homestuck with all its flash elements in-tact!
- UHSC slur replacement mod: removes slurs while doing its best to retain the original tone and humor. not my thing considering I don't think the slurs are particularly what makes homestuck egregious at its worst but it might be of interest to some of you looking to read it idk
- APK mods: if you have any device running android this is super helpful! just watch where you click here, I recommend an adblock.
software
everything below is free to download and most is open-source!
- Proton VPN: my VPN of choice, its free version gets the job done just fine. However, if you're using a VPN to bypass regional restrictions, you may want to opt for something else since the free version of Proton only offers 2 countries.
- qBittorrent
- Sumatra PDF: a wonderfully lightweight, no-frills PDF/epub/etc reader that I use for all of my ebooks and articles
- RetroBar: changes the Windows taskbar to that of older editions of Windows (95/98, Longhorn, XP, Vista). purely an aesthetic thing but I like it much more than the windows 10/11 taskbars :P
- Open-Shell: to go with that new taskbar, here's Open-Shell, a reborn version of Classic Shell that gets regular updates. It adds a bunch of classic features to newer editions of windows that make it nicer to use in my opinion.
- Soulseek: simple P2P filesharing. Tends to be kind of buggy with a VPN enabled though.
P.S. If you're still on Chrome, I highly recommend switching to Firefox (and sticking on ublockOrigin and Privacy Badger along the way)
